Short definitions of the words you will meet when planning, publishing and measuring social media.

- AI caption generator

- Approval workflow

- Best time to post
- The days and hours when a specific audience is most active and most likely to engage. It differs by audience and network, so it is best measured from your own posts.Find your best time
- Brand kit
- A saved set of a brand’s logo, colours, fonts and tone of voice that keeps every post consistent.Brand kit
- Brand voice
- The consistent personality of a brand’s writing, for example friendly, professional, premium or energetic.

- Call to action (CTA)
- The line that tells the reader what to do next, such as “Message us on WhatsApp” or “Book a test drive”.
- Caption
- The text that accompanies a social media post. Each network has its own length limit, from 280 characters on X to 2,200 on Instagram.
- Carousel
- A single post with several swipeable photos or videos. Instagram allows up to ten items; Threads allows up to twenty.
- Content calendar
- A schedule of what will be posted, where and when, planned in advance to keep posting consistent.Content calendar for car dealers
- Content pillars
- The three to five recurring themes a brand posts about, such as product, offers, proof and tips.

- Engagement
- Interactions with a post: likes, comments, shares, saves and clicks.
- Engagement rate
- Engagement divided by reach or followers, usually as a percentage. It lets you compare posts of different sizes.

- First comment
- A comment published by the brand immediately after its own post, often used for hashtags or links to keep the caption clean.

- Hashtag
- A word or phrase after a # symbol that groups posts by topic and helps people discover them.

- Impressions
- The number of times a post was shown on screen, including repeat views by the same person.

- Link to post
- Creating a social media post from a web page’s URL, using the page’s text and images.Link to post

- Organic reach
- The number of people who see a post without paid promotion.

- Professional account

- Reach
- The number of unique people who saw a post.
- Reel
- A short vertical (9:16) video on Instagram or Facebook. Reels are shown widely to people who do not follow the account.Reel maker
- Roman Urdu
- Urdu written in the Latin alphabet, as many people in Pakistan type on social media, for example “Nayi gaari aa gayi hai”.Urdu and Arabic captions

- Sales agent post
